Swimming Down South
Florida is a warm southern state, so pools can potentially be used year-round most seasons based on your acclimatization to cold water. If you are not heating your pool the chances are that it is probably too cold to take a dip. However, that is no reason to take a break from your periodic maintenances. Here are some tips from your pool maintenance pros to consider while the weather continues to cool off.
Clean the pool thoroughly regardless of the water temperature. Keeping the filter clean and vacuuming, as usual, is still important during the cooler months. Furthermore, keeping debris traps emptied regularly will keep leaves from building up and keep your filter cleaner and more maintainable in the long run.
Balance the chemicals. While we do not have to drain our pipes by lowering the water like they do in the colder parts of the country. Your pool chemicals here in Florida should be maintained the same as during the warmer months of the year.
Monitor water levels. Due to evaporation, especially if you are heating your pool, you may need to add water. As rainfall decreases and chilly days become more common, the pool water will begin to evaporate. In some cases, more rapid than in the summer. Don’t be surprised if your water level drops one or two inches per week. To prevent the water from getting too low monitor it and add water as necessary.
Your weekly Coastal Luxury Outdoors pool technician will continue to do all of these things and much more as they plan your pool’s road map into the warmer water temps of the spring season.
